Kingpins, Wheelers Play 14 to Settle Game 1, Chicago Now Leads Series 1-0
|
One game in and the Semi-FInals is already looking exhausting.
The Chicago Kingpins and the Anchorage Wheelers needed 14 innings to settle Game 1, with the Kingpins finally taking the 5-2 victory at Balto Memorial Field at The Igloo. Excelling in the win was Chicago pitcher Joseph Mathys Hendry, who threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The Kingpins and Wheelers are playing a best-of-7 series.
Chicago needed the clutch hitting of Christopher Hoff to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the 14th inning to put the Kingpins on top, 4-2. For the game, Hoff had 1 home run and 1 single in 7 at-bats.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Hoff. "You've got to get results."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Balto Memorial Field at The Igloo in Providence.
