California Beats Florida in World Series
|
A celebratory mood filled the air as the California Firehawks closed out the season with a 5-2 victory over the Florida Flamingos at Florida Man Park to capture the World Series, 4-3.
Giving the Flamingos credit for a hard-fought series, Firehawks players said they believed throughout the postseason that their "destiny" was to be crowned Minor League PBE champions.
"We felt like this was our year all season long," said first baseman Woop Woop, who was named series MVP. "It was our destiny to win it and we did."
It was the 7th in franchise history. During the West Division regular season California put up a 63-45 record and finished first.
"They're the champions and they deserve it," said a dejected Florida manager . "We played good ball, they just played better than us."
