Seattle Drops Death Valley, 5-1

Seattle picked up a win at Cari Price Memorial Stadium, bumping off the Death Valley Scorpions, 5-1. Pitcher Ivy de Vries was a major reason the Sea Serpents emerged victorious. de Vries, now 3-0, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Death Valley has now lost 4 consecutive games.
Seattle used the timely hitting of Lew Williams to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Sea Serpents on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Seattle manager . "That's what Ivy is right now."
