Brew City Tops California Again, 4-2
|
A strong performance from pitcher Thor Lore was not enough for the California Firehawks, who were stopped by the visiting Brew City Bears, 4-2, in Game 2 of the Semi-FInals. The Bears never truly figured out the right-handed Lore, who threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Still, the Bears now hold a 2-0 in the best-of-7 series.
Had C.J. Lavine not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Lavine hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Bears.
Lavine told a Brew City Chronicle reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday at PBE Bigger Strange Podcast Stadium: Home of the Waterpigeons in Providence.
