First Round Goes the Distance, Anchorage Prevails
|
The joy and relief on the faces of the Anchorage Wheelers players was obvious as they celebrated their First Round win over the Louisville Lemurs.
"In a series like this, the smallest thing can make the difference in how it turns out," said Anchorage second baseman Shane Ziegler, shortly after the 3-0 win that clinched the series 3-2. "We're happy we did what it takes to get it done."
The team is now off to the Semi-FInals.
Ziegler won series MVP honors on the strength of his .375 batting average during the series. He also had a .500 on-base percentage and 2 home runs, drove in 5 RBI and scored 5 runs.
The Semi-FInals matchups and schedule will be announced after the First Round finishes.
