Becker, Flamingos Sink Wheelers Again in Game 3
|
The Florida Flamingos are one game away from a sweep after downing the visiting Anchorage Wheelers at The Mound, 9-5. Flamingos second baseman Dustin Becker went 5 for 5 with 2 home runs, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4. Florida now holds a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 World Series.
Had Beau Nappeteat not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Nappeteat hit a 2-run double. That made the score 7-5, in favor of the Flamingos.
Nappeteat called the triumph "a good team win."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Mound in Providence.
