Vandals Top San Antonio, 5-4
The Vancouver Vandals overcame a good performance by San Antonio catcher Tedford Woofington Jr. to knock off San Antonio, 5-4, at The Scudder Forty-Three Stadium. Woofington Jr. was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Chuck Nasty came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 2.2 innings. His record now stands at 2-1. Capsaicin Shrub picked up the save, his 4th.

Had McLovin Jr. not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, McLovin Jr. hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Vandals.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," McLovin Jr. said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."

Vancouver is now 12-17.
