Buffalo first baseman Mark Honcho had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Honcho went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times, even as Providence beat the Surge, 8-6. Nathanael Abel got credit for the save for Providence. It was his 4th of the year. With the win, Providence upped its record to 20-10.

Providence took the lead, 5-3, on JD Pants's 6th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Buffalo pitcher Colby Koffman in the bottom of the seventh.

"It feels good to get this one," Pants told the Providence Daily.
