Space Rangers Absorb 8-6 Loss at The Scudder Forty-Three Stadium
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Vancouver Vandals and Lunar Base Space Rangers.
The Vancouver Vandals had to overcome a big game from Lunar Base third baseman Sting Eucliffe to leave The Scudder Forty-Three Stadium with a victory. And they did, winning 8-6. Eucliffe was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Darren Clapp, who threw 102 pitches over 5.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 5 runs on 10 hits.
The Vandals got a big at-bat from center fielder Steven Strange. For the game, Strange was 1-4 with a double, while adding 3 RBI. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 6th double of the season gave Vancouver a 8-5 lead.
Vandals manager wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
Vancouver, at 18-19, holds down second place in the Legends Conference West.
