Apex Pocket 6-3 Win Against San Antonio
|
The Indianapolis Apex topped the San Antonio Sloths, 6-3, in Champions Conference action at The Brickyard. The game was highlighted by the performance of Indianapolis pitcher Calm Chicken. Chicken, the winner, moves to 8-2. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 13 and giving up 4 walks. Flop Quads closed it out for Indianapolis, earning his 6th save.
Second Baseman Edward Mackinlay made an impact for Indianapolis, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Johnny Tatum in the bottom of the fourth. For the contest, Mackinlay went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs.
Chicken expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
The first-place Apex have a one-game lead in their division.
