The California Firehawks got their 2076 season off and running with a win over the Puerto Rico Ranas at PBE Bigger Strange Podcast Stadium: Home of the Waterpigeons. The final score was 6-3. California third baseman Rafael Furcal Jr, in particular, had a fine performance. Cheii Armbanduhr earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. He upped his record to 1-0.

Maverick Tonyon went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for California. The 23-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jerry Berry [BOT]. It was his 3rd RBI of the season.

California manager was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard," he said.
