Flamingos Come Back Late to Top Wheelers, 5-3
|
The Florida Flamingos defeated the Anchorage Wheelers, 5-3, in Minor League PBE action at Balto Memorial Field at The Igloo. Florida pitcher Moe Mentum had a standout performance. Florida pitcher Pord Larquad [BOT] earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Andre Pope suffered the loss. The win gives Florida a record of 4-1.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Paulie Wag? The 21-year old designated hitter Wag stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put Florida up, 5-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Wag.
