With Late Score, Wheelers Beat Flamingos
|
The Anchorage Wheelers topped the Florida Flamingos, 6-5, at Balto Memorial Field at The Igloo. Anchorage shortstop Slime Sluggerton was a spark plug for the offense. He was 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. The victory makes Anchorage 2-4.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With no one out, Sluggerton hit a circle change from Lilyin Blue for a run-scoring single. The Wheelers, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"I feel like a little kid every time I put the uniform on," said Sluggerton.
