Wheelers Win 3-2 Walk-Off
|
Kansas City got a terrific performance from pitcher Christian Summers, but it wasn't enough to beat the Anchorage Wheelers. Anchorage won the Balto Memorial Field at The Igloo contest, 3-2. Summers threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Smoki Zazaki claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 4 hits in 4 innings. His record stands at 1-0. Kansas City, with the loss, is still a robust 5-2.
The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Anchorage. That's when Monstar hit a 2-run double off 21-year old right-handed pitcher Porygon Two to win the game. The home crowd went wild.
"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Monstar.
