Wheelers Scratch Out 2-0 Win
|
The Anchorage Wheelers beat the Florida Flamingos, 2-0, at Balto Memorial Field at The Igloo. Starting pitcher Richard Dick was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Dick, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 5.1 innings of 0-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 5 walks. Remy Lebeau closed the game out for Anchorage, earning his 2nd save.
The Wheelers got a big at-bat from catcher Rob Littleton. For the game, Littleton was 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Anchorage a 2-0 lead.
Afterward, Wheelers manager was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
The win puts Anchorage at 4-3.
