Downbound Ranas Lose 8th Straight
|
The Florida Flamingos polished off the Puerto Rico Ranas by the score of 6-2. The largest share of the credit belonged to shortstop Jimmy Lumber. Lumber went 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI for the Flamingos. Florida reliever Jimmy Key-Largo [BOT] was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Punish Vandals [BOT] took the loss. The win gives Florida a record of 7-1.
Had Gator McGraw not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, McGraw hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Flamingos.
"It was sure nice to get the win but there's a lot of baseball left," Lumber after the game.
