Flamingos Earn 5-2 Win Against Wheelers
|
The Florida Flamingos downed the Anchorage Wheelers, 5-2, at Balto Memorial Field at The Igloo. The Flamingos were led by Alex Hughes. He went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Colt Falcon snagged the win in relief. In 1.2 innings, the right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits. He's now 1-0 on the season. At 6-3, the Flamingos have played well so far.
Hughes had a game-changing double in the top of the 11th. On a first pitch curveball from Joshua Chambers, he banged a bases-clearing double to left-center, giving the Flamingos a 4-1 lead. It was the 4th double of the year for Hughes.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Hughes.
