Tegge Homers Twice in 7-2 Voyagers Win
|
Voyagers first baseman Nolan Tegge left his mark on his team's 7-2 win over the Toronto Pathfinders. Tegge, who is a five-time All-Star, was 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for New York in the contest. Joey Moose Jr. got the win, improving to 2-0. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 13 and walking 0. The Voyagers, now 5-0, have hit the ground running this season.
The Pathfinders had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Voyagers going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 29-year old left fielder Kanutake MeHire came to the plate. MeHire hit a run-scoring double on a 1-1 circle change from Toronto hurler Kim Ji-Woo. It was MeHire's 5th double of the year.
"It was a good team win. Everybody threw something in," Tegge told the New York Bulletin.
