Firehawks Squelch Kingpins Offense in Shutout Win
|
California starter Nick Gilmore put a stranglehold on the Chicago offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Firehawks to a 4-0 win. The Kingpins fall to 5-7 and continue their lackluster start in 2063.
The Firehawks got a big at-bat from designated hitter Dimpley Splorger. For the game, Splorger was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave California a 2-0 lead.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Gilmore.
