Florida registered a win at Kay Faraday Memorial Stadium by beating the Puerto Rico Ranas, 3-1. Pitcher Animal Kingdom was one reason why the Flamingos triumphed. Florida reliever Reid Johnson picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Punish Vandals [BOT] was tagged with the loss. The Ranas, now 3-10, continue their sluggish start.
Florida used the clutch hitting of Jimmy Lumber to snag the win. The center fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Flamingos ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
