Apex Shut Out Sea Serpents, 4-0
|
The Indianapolis Apex downed the Seattle Sea Serpents, 4-0, at The Brickyard. Stellar pitching by Calm Chicken had a lot to do with it. The left-hander, who finished 3rd in the Champions in innings pitched with 180.2 last year, handcuffed his opponent all game. In 7 innings, Chicken surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. James Noble recorded the save for Indianapolis, his 1st of the season.
The Apex got a big hit from right fielder Monstar. Facing Seattle pitcher Mejiro McQueen in the bottom of the fifth, Monstar pounded a 2-run home run to right-center. His 1st home run of the season put the Apex ahead, 3-0.
"I made a lot of good pitches," said Chicken. "I was right where I wanted to be."
Seattle drops to 4-1.
