Outer Banks got a terrific game from third baseman Julio Ruiz Jr.. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Buffalo, 9-8. Ruiz Jr. was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Buffalo reliever Barto O'Colon was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Goro Shigeno. With the victory, the Surge record stands at 18-22.

The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Samir Noff came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Outer Banks pitcher Goro Shigeno, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Buffalo on top, 9-8.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Noff, "and then get after it again."
