Waxillium Summers impressed in the 11-8 Detroit win over Indianapolis. Summers, who finished 2nd in the Champions in OPS with .975 last year, was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Detroit reliever Brad Van de Hat picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Andre Pope absorbed the loss. Detroit occupies last place in the Champions Conference East at 15-25.

Detroit went up, 9-8, on Revan Shan's 10th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Shan hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Indianapolis pitcher Andre Pope muttering to himself.

"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Shan.
