The Death Valley Scorpions defeated the Indianapolis Apex, 7-5, at The Brickyard. Leading the charge for Death Valley was third baseman Xicoyotl Montalbán. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Guy Roussy earned the win for Death Valley. He lasted 8 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits, while striking out 7. With the win, he raised his record to 10-0. Picking up his 1st save was three-time All-Star Bandit Keith.

Death Valley took a 5-1 lead on Montalbán's 11th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which he hit off James Noble in the top of the seventh, propelled Death Valley to the win.

"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Montalbán told the Death Valley Today.
