Rougarous Down Apex, 7-4
|
The Rougarous earned a hard-fought, 7-4 win in 12 innings at The Brickyard. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Indianapolis pitcher Maurice Bernard. Bernard went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs. New Orleans reliever Antonio Abner was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Takeda Takahashi took the loss. Ea Nasir picked up the save, his 2nd.
Udo Bonga delivered a big hit for New Orleans. The left fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Rougarous ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
Bonga told a New Orleans Herald reporter that he felt "elated" after the win.
The Rougarous sport a record of 17-27.
