Skoden Excels, But Voyagers Win
|
The San Antonio Sloths could not turn a fine performance from third baseman Les Skoden into a win. Instead, the New York Voyagers prevailed, 5-4. Skoden went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. New York pitcher Big Rooster got the win, upping his record to 5-2. William Nilliam got the loss. The Voyagers, at 28-17, lead by one game in their division.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Kries Von Kriestalhauser? The slick-fielding center fielder Von Kriestalhauser stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put New York up, 5-4. For the game, he was 2 for 3, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Von Kriestalhauser said.
