The 10-9 Death Valley win over New Orleans was due largely to Ted Giannoulas. The Scorpions first baseman was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 4 times and drove in 2. The win went to Bubba Blaze in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Leo Gonzalez took the loss. The Scorpions, at 30-17, lead by one game in their division.
The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Death Valley. That's when Literal Flamingo hit a bases-clearing double off 22-year old left-handed pitcher Leo Gonzalez to win the game. The home crowd went wild.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Giannoulas said after the game.
