Tight Tilt Goes to Surge, 2-1
|
J.C. Swishman never let Death Valley get something going. The Buffalo right-hander commanded his screwball in pitching the Surge to a 2-1 win. Swishman, now 6-3, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Picking up the save was James Filtipaldi, his 12th.
The Surge got a big at-bat from left fielder D.W. Dogmaple. For the game, Dogmaple was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Buffalo a 2-0 lead.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Buffalo manager .
The first-place Surge have won 4 in a row.
