Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Cancun Toros home opener. Usada Pekora started for the home team against Always A. Bummus for the Death Valley Scorpions. The Toros were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 8-2, Death Valley. Always A. Bummus, though, was impressive.

Death Valley relied on the hitting of Smalls to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Scorpions on top, 1-0. For the game, Smalls had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Smalls.
