The rain came, as predicted, but the Cancun Toros and Providence Crabs were able to complete their ballgame.

The Cancun Toros defeated the Providence Crabs, 3-0, in Champions Conference action at Coliseo Toros, presentado por VINS. Cancun pitcher John Cowgill had a standout performance. Cowgill yielded no runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. His record improves to 5-3.

Cancun took a 2-0 lead on Mengie Brolina's 14th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Brolina hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Providence pitcher Iceman visibly frustrated.

"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Cancun manager .

The win for the Toros raised their record to 31-22.
