California Dispatched, 2-0, by Chicago
|
The Chicago Kingpins used a great performance from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Oskar Von Kautz to beat the California Firehawks, 2-0, at The Jose Forty-Three Stadium. The winner in relief was Aventurine. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3.1 innings. He now owns a record of 3-0. The Kingpins, now 13-5, have been red hot.
The Firehawks had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Kingpins going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 20-year old designated hitter Boots Poffenberger came to the plate. Poffenberger hit a 2-run home run on a 1-1 fastball from California hurler Dr. Hubert Malbec. It was Poffenberger's 6th home run of the year.
"Oskar throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said Chicago manager .
