Amarillo pitcher Marsh Mellow Jr. did his part in helping his team beat the Anchorage Wheelers, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. The winner was Mellow Jr.. He threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Jiggs Kingman. The loss drops Anchorage to 12-6.

With two out in the bottom of the seventh, Mortimer Dog had a game-changing hit. The Armadillos second baseman slammed a 2-run single off Andre Pope, making the score 4-0, Amarillo.

"Marsh -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Armadillos manager . "He was the key to us winning."
