Down Goes Louisville, 8-2
|
The 8-2 Puerto Rico win over Louisville was due in large part to Taylor Woelfel. The Ranas right fielder was 2 for 2 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. Marc Jackson got the win, improving to 3-1. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 8 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 0. With this game in the books, Puerto Rico is 8-14, Louisville 8-14.
A.J. Comyn had a big bases-clearing double for the Ranas in the bottom of the eighth inning. With Puerto Rico leading 5-2 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Dougie Talladega and swatted a double to right. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Ranas ahead, 8-2.
"Things went our way," said Comyn.
