Bears Win at Florida, 7-3
|
Thanks in large part to shortstop Thomas Sankara, the Brew City Bears beat the Florida Flamingos, 7-3. Sankara was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Picking up the win was Masahiro Sato. He went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. The right--hander struck out 3 and walked 3. With the win, Brew City upped its record to 16-7.
With Brew City leading 4-1 in the top of the fifth, Sankara hit a 2-run single off Florida hurler Moe Mentum. It was the 21st hit of the season for Sankara and put his team ahead, 6-1.
"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Sankara told the Brew City Chronicle.
