Flamingos Win, 9-4, Versus Ranas
|
The Florida Flamingos trumped the Puerto Rico Ranas, 9-4, at Kay Faraday Memorial Stadium. Florida second baseman Antony Joy was terrific. He was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs. The winning pitcher was Pedro Martini. He's now 3-2. He went 5.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits for the Flamingos. Joseph Reed was credited with the save for Florida, his 1st of the season.
With Florida leading 3-2 in the top of the sixth, Joy hit a run-scoring single off Puerto Rico hurler Harry Berry. It was the 27th hit of the season for Joy and put his team ahead, 4-2.
"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Joy told the Florida Observer.
With the win, Florida raised its record to 15-8.
