Phan 3-5 in Swift Steeds Win
|
The State College Swift Steeds trumped the Puerto Rico Ranas, 9-7, at Count Longardeaux's Strong Badian Dictionary Fo' My Own Words Stadium. State College third baseman Green-Chilaquil Phan was terrific. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Billy Jones, credited with the win, is now 2-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits. The last-place Ranas have lost 4 straight games.
The game turned with one out in the bottom of the seventh when Phan hit a 2-run single. It propelled the Swift Steeds into the lead, 9-7.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Phan.
