Hepcats Win, 7-3, Versus Anchorage
|
Anchorage got a terrific game from third baseman Samie Parker. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Kansas City, 7-3. Parker went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Kansas City goes to 20-14, Anchorage to 13-21.
Joe Kirkland was 1 for 3 with a walk and was hit by a pitch for Kansas City. The 23-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring walk off Dahmir Lucas. It was his 12th walk of the season.
Kirkland told a Kansas City Today reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
