Armadillos Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Hepcats
|
The Amarillo Armadillos relied on the hitting of right fielder Rob Banks to stop the Kansas City Hepcats, 6-4. For the game, Banks was 2 for 3 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Wayne Finch Summers came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. His record now stands at 2-1. Amarillo is now 18-18, Kansas City 17-19.
Banks went 2-3 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for Amarillo. With the game tied in the top of the fifth inning, Banks, who is tied for 9th in the MiLPBE with a .407 on-base percentage, had a clutch at-bat. That's when he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Armadillos a 5-4 lead.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Banks told the Amarillo Chronicle. "It's as simple as that."
