Firehawks Drop Bears, 6-5
|
Coleman Carver was instrumental in his team's 6-5 triumph over the Brew City Bears. The right fielder was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the California Firehawks. David Sears got the win, improving to 2-4. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 3. Goro Shigeno picked up the save, his 8th.
With California trailing 3-2 in the top of the fourth, Carver hit a fastball from Masahiro Sato for a 3-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Firehawks ahead, 5-3.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Carver.
California goes to 16-20, Brew City to 18-18.
