Florida Sends California Packing with 4-2 Loss
|
The Florida Flamingos beat the California Firehawks, 4-2. Florida pitcher and Chicago, Illinois, native Richard Fox led the way. Fox, the winner, moves to 3-4. He threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 4 walks. Junior O'Callaghan closed it out for Florida, earning his 6th save.
Florida used a well-timed hit by Peyton Shoelace to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Flamingos ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Fox. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
Florida has 4 straight wins, California 3 straight losses.
