The timely hitting of Les Skoden helped the Kansas City Hepcats down the Florida Flamingos, 5-3. Skoden went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs for the Hepcats. The winner in relief was Randy Colón. He is now 3-0. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. The win puts Kansas City at 14-22.
Kansas City used the timely hitting of Gnome Child to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Hepcats on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We take it day by day here," said Child, "and today was a good one for us."
