Cancun starter Samuel Smoltz put a stranglehold on the Vancouver offense. The left-hander had complete command of his screwball in leading the Toros to a 4-1 win. Cancun, with the win, is 6-2.

Cancun used the hitting of Victor Cortez to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Toros on top, 2-1. For the game, Cortez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
