California pitcher David Sears did his part in helping his team beat the Louisville Lemurs, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Sears, now 4-2, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. California is now 24-14, Louisville 20-18.

Clarke Maxx had a big 2-run double for the Firehawks in the bottom of the third inning. With California leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a screwball from Shohei Onetani, who is tied for 2nd in the MiLPBE in innings pitched with 68.2, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Firehawks ahead, 3-0.
