Wheelers Come Up Short at Puerto Rico, 5-4
|
Puerto Rico beat Anchorage at Kay Faraday Memorial Stadium, eking out a 5-4 win. The win was due in large part to designated hitter Jason Mehoff. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Puerto Rico reliever Dr. LBG [BOT] snagged the win, upping his record to 2-0. Alex Kidd shouldered the loss. The triumph makes Puerto Rico 13-26.
Had Mehoff not come through in the bottom of the seventh, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Mehoff hit a run-scoring single. The Ranas took the lead, 5-4, and never looked back.
"Just glad I could help us get a win," said Mehoff.
