The Kansas City Hepcats picked up a win at Walter Partlo Memorial Stadium at The Tap House, taking down the Brew City Bears, 5-4. Starting pitcher Desi Cotton was a big reason why. Cotton yielded 2 runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-2. The Hepcats, now 19-21, know that wins in June count the same as wins in September.
Kansas City left fielder Bobby Cru contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 43rd hit of the season and put the Hepcats ahead, 4-2.
"Desi pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said Kansas City manager .
