The timely hitting of Atlas Sluggs helped the Vancouver Vandals down the Death Valley Scorpions, 5-3. Sluggs went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Vandals. Holly Sheet, the winner, improved to 8-5. He held the Scorpions to 2 runs on 3 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 5. Alejandro Abasi notched his 7th save of the season.

With Vancouver leading 1-0 in the top of the second, Sluggs hit a fastball from Guy Roussy for a 2-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season and put the Vandals ahead, 3-0.

"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Sluggs. "You've got to get results."
