Aviators Earn Late 3-2 Win
|
Outer Banks pitcher Wombat Jones did his part in helping his team defeat the Seattle Sea Serpents, 3-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the left-hander. Zach Voss, now 1-1, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. The loss puts Seattle at 3-6.
Batting in the bottom of the ninth, 25-year old third baseman Julio Ruiz Jr. had a real shot to win the game. Seattle pitcher Kip Treadwell was determined not to let it happen. But with no outs, Ruiz Jr. hit a run-scoring single. The Aviators had a walk-off triumph.
"I really like what we did out there today," Jones said after the game.
