Providence Crabs starter Joe Random found his groove in his team's 5-3 win over the Boise Raptors. Random, now 7-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing no runs. The triumph puts Providence at 35-21 for the season.

JD Pants had a big 2-run double for the Crabs in the top of the fifth inning. With Providence leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a circle change from Harold Smith, who is tied for 10th in the Legends in wins with 6, and swatted a double to left. It was his 17th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Crabs ahead, 5-0.

"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Providence manager . "That's what Joe is right now."
