The Death Valley Scorpions stopped the Cancun Toros, 5-4, at Cari Price Memorial Stadium. The Scorpions got a big game from Ted Giannoulas, who was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Death Valley leads the Champions Conference West by 3½ games.

Death Valley got a clutch hit from Melo Misteur. The center fielder launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.

"It was bedlam at the end," Misteur said.
