Sea Serpents Drop Scorpions, 5-3
|
The Seattle Sea Serpents picked up a win at Cari Price Memorial Stadium, knocking off the Death Valley Scorpions, 5-3, in 10 innings. Starting pitcher Talk O'Bell played a key role in the triumph. Kip Treadwell, now 3-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. The win puts Seattle at 32-27 this season.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Jim Hawkins came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Death Valley pitcher Jazz Hands, he hit a 0-1 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Seattle on top, 4-3.
"It feels good to get this one," O'Bell told the Seattle Observer.
