Aviators Hold Off Vandals, 2-1

Outer Banks Aviators starter Joe Kelly hurled his team past the Vancouver Vandals, 2-1. Kelly, the winner, moves to 7-3. He threw 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 4 walks. Fridtjof Nansen, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 5th save.
Murphy LeSwift, the Outer Banks third baseman, contributed a 2-run single in the bottom of the second inning to make the score 2-0, Aviators. For the game, LeSwift was 1-2 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
"Tough loss," said Vancouver manager . "But we'll learn from it."
The first-place Aviators have won 4 consecutive games.
